A still from Beba. A portrait of a Black Latinx woman. She has a peaceful expression, her eyes are closed and her arm is draped over her head. Behind her is the open sky.

Beba

Friday, July 1 at 7pm, join us Landmark’s Ritz Five for a screening of Rebeca Huntt’s coming-of-age documentary and cinematic memoir Beba. The screening will be followed by a Q&A with the filmmaker, moderated by our Curatorial and Research Fellow Farrah Rahaman!

In the film “Rebeca ‘Beba’ Huntt undertakes an unflinching exploration of her own identity. Reflecting on her childhood and adolescence in New York City as the daughter of a Dominican father and Venezuelan mother, Huntt investigates the historical, societal, and generational trauma she’s inherited and ponders how those ancient wounds have shaped her, while simultaneously considering the universal truths that connect us all as humans. Throughout Beba, Huntt searches for a way to forge her own creative path amid a landscape of intense racial and political unrest.”

This event is co-presented by NEON.
