A Love Song For Latasha (2019, United States, 19 minutes) is a dreamlike archive in conversation with the past and the present to re-imagine a more nuanced narrative of Latasha Harlins by excavating intimate and poetic memories shared by her cousin and best friend.
This special presentation is to commemorate the 28th Anniversary of the 1992 Los Angeles Uprisings, sparked in part by the death of Harlins. We will stream the film three times a day from May 1 to May 3 via Facebook Live. On Sunday, May 3, the final screening will be followed by a conversation with the film’s director Sophia Nahli Allison, producer Deniese Davis, filmmaker dream hampton, artist Lynnée Denise, and scholar Marcus Anthony Hunter.
