Akua made the move to Philadelphia after graduating with a degree in Latin and Women’s, Gender & Sexuality Studies. She dove into working with young people in her first few years post-graduation. She served as a mentor and coordinated programming designed to support young Black and Brown people in exploring possibilities.
After some time working at an insurance start-up, she is now excited to offer administrative support to BlackStar.
When she isn’t working or chilling with her cat, you can find her learning how to level up her recipes, going to as many concerts as she can, and adventuring around the city.
