Swabreen Bakr

Swabreen Bakr is an experienced digital brand strategist in the cultural and arts sectors. She specializes in utilizing a broad range of content and data analytics to conceptualize and execute strategic and creative social media campaigns to drive and expand brand engagements with diverse audiences. Having worked as BlackStar’s Social Media Manager from 2017-2022, Swabreen rejoined BlackStar as part of the communications team in 2023. Swabreen prides herself in being a collaborative colleague, an empowering leader and a champion for diversity and inclusion in the arts. As a consultant she has worked with global and local brands, including Tastemade, PHL DNC and Bacardi USA, in the realm of product development, brand development and influencer marketing. As a freelance writer—specializing in food, drinks and tourism—her work has been published in Philadelphia Weekly and the Washington Post. Originally from Georgetown, Guyana, she immigrated to the United States at age 16 and has been living and working in Philadelphia ever since.
