Memory as Technology: Restoring the Family Portrait

In the presence of archival silence, artists are reimagining the family portrait by creating  alternative entry points to the past through audio, visual and immersive technologies.

You will learn the restorative frameworks reshaping their relationship to technology and the challenges that have arised within its evolution.  The presentation will share cinematic case studies from Morgan Matthews, Alvaro Morales and Shireen Alihaji and will close with a sonic photograph exercise in collaboration with Sound Designer/Composer Estevan Carlos Benson. Journals encouraged.
