Guide to Accessibility at the Festival
In this guide, you can find our accessibility offerings and considerations for the 2022 BlackStar Film Festival. Please note that this guide is meant to accompany the 2022 BlackStar Program Guide, which has details about locations, showtimes, and more. We encourage all of our attendees — disabled and nondisabled alike — to review this guide. These considerations may affect and even benefit more than just people who currently identify as disabled.

COVID-19 Safety Protocols
All festival attendees must show proof of vaccination and IDs at the door at all venues and for all indoor and outdoor in-person festival events. We would all like to do our part to keep our community safe and healthy. Please bring a physical or digital copy of your proof of vaccination, along with your valid ID. Upon checking vaccination status, you will receive a dated wristband so that you don’t have to show proof of vaccination again that day. We will be asking for your proof of vaccinations and IDs daily, and providing dated wristbands for the full day. Wearing masks is mandatory for all indoor venues, except briefly when eating and drinking; please be mindful of others and keep a distance. Mask wearing during outdoor events is optional but encouraged.
Medical Exemption: If vaccination is not possible, attendees must have a negative PCR test collected within 72 hours of any given event.

Will I be able to watch virtual films whenever I want?
No. This year’s virtual films will be available to “unlock” 48 hours from their start time. Within that 48 hour window attendees can begin watching at any time, but once a film begins all attendees have only 24 hours to complete watching.
Please check blackstarfest.org/schedule for the most up to date information and visit watch.blackstarfest.org/help if you require technical assistance.
What happens after I make a purchase to view a film?
Any time you purchase an individual ticket, you will receive a confirmation email from Eventive.
Your watch window begins at the time the film is available, and the amount of time you have remaining to press play for that particular film will appear on a counter on that film’s page. Once you press play, you will have 24 hours to complete the screening.
If you purchase a film that is “now playing” and within its availability window, you will receive an email from Eventive immediately. Your watch window will begin immediately and the amount of time you have remaining to press play for that particular film will appear on a counter on that film’s page. Once you press play, you will have 24 hours to complete the screening.
Are there discounts for ACCESS cardholders?
BlackStar is offering ACCESS cardholders individual tickets to the virtual festival and in-person events, for $2.00. To receive the discounted tickets, use the discount code “ACCAR22” at checkout when purchasing an individual ticket. When arriving for an in-person event, you may be asked to present your ACCESS card at entry.
When will my pass be available and how long?
Your pass is immediately available after purchase or at the start of the festival. An All-Access or Virtual Pass will work until the end of the festival on August 7.
How do I access live events?
Online events, such as panels and conversations, will be available to stream without registration—with the exception of the BlackStar Pitch (details about this event follows). These events will air freely within the Eventive platform and from BlackStar’s YouTube page. Check the website for more information: blackstarfest.org/schedule.
The Daily Jawn is a live in-person nightly show that will also stream online for free.
