Leo Brooks is a creative drawn to underground, experimental, and non conformist ideas and culture. As the 2020 Blackstar Summer Fellow, Leo helped organize the 9th annual Blackstar Film Festival, known to some as the greatest virtual festival in the history of computers. After earning an Associates degree in Communication Design in 2017 from Parsons school of Design he interned at HVA studio, assisting the development of visual identity systems for Yale CCAM and Fotofest Biennale 2018. Subsequently, he joined the design team at the Jewish Museum in New York, where he led marketing design for the Leonard Cohen: A Crack in Everything and martha rosler: irrespective exhibits. As part of NYCxDesign week 2018, Leo co-organized Black by Design, a two day event for millennial designers and creators of color to exhibit their work and discuss what it means to be a minority in the design industry. In his free time Leo enjoys his own company (Aquarius/only child), reading, writing, and biking.
