Greg Tate

Greg Tate (October 14, 1957 – December 7, 2021) was a musician, journalist, author, critic, essayist, professor, and beloved member of Seen’s advisory board. Greg was long an inspiration behind and supporter of our work at BlackStar. As Hua Hsu once wrote in the New Yorker, “For a generation of critics, Tate’s career has served as a reminder that diversity isn’t just about a splash of color in the group photo; it’s about the different ways that people see, feel, and move within the world.” Read more about his work and life here.
