A film still from The Great North shows a silhouette standing in the center of a dark room, illuminated solely by a window whose curtain is pulled open. The silhouette is positioned between a railing and a wall that extends to the camera. The other side of the wall reveals a dimly lit room with indiscernible items.

Screenings

In-Person

Manchester’s industrial history and modern-day architecture intertwine in a meditative new film by British artist and filmmaker Jenn Nkiru. The Great North weaves together new footage and archive material to explore parallels between architecture and the human body — and how they both shapeshift through time and space.
