BlackStar is seeking a PROJECT COORDINATOR to execute a weekly screening series at the jewel-box cinema in the VIA building on South Broad Street. PROJECT COORDINATOR will primarily work with four organizations — BlackStar, CinéSPEAK, Philadelphia Asian American Film Foundation (PAAFF), and Philadelphia Latino Arts & Film Festival (PHLAFF) — each rotating weekly to host screenings, talks, and workshops.
Responsibilities include:
Manage Cinema Club @ VIA schedule, including liaising with the four lead organizations listed above.
Work closely with each organization to execute film licensing and/or honoraria, ensuring payment processes are fulfilled, etc.
Gather all assets for promotion and publicity, including film still, synopses, etc.
Liaise between BlackStar operations team, lead organization, film license holders/filmmakers, VIA staff, projectionists, and other stakeholders.
Create and manage projectionist schedules.
Manage social media account to promote schedule.
Work with relevant communications teams to support publicity of events.
Attend events in-person to act as house manager, support projectionists.
Attend meetings and execute administrative duties as required.

Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines.
Strong interpersonal skills, including ability to work with members of the press, artists, audiences, colleagues, and stakeholders with positivity and professionalism.
Ability to make sound decisions in a deadline-oriented environment.
Ability to work as a team member and/or work independently and take initiative as appropriate.
Problem-solving skills and the ability to act quickly in a fast-paced environment.
Interest in cinema.
Compensation & Schedule:
Compensation is $1,200 per month for duties as described above. This is a contracted position working April 15, 2026 to May 14, 2027 with some evenings and weekends required. This is a hybrid (remote and in-person) position with online meetings and independent work, and requires in-person attendance at the weekly event on Wednesday evenings. The individual in this role is expected to work approximately 10 hours per week. Preference is for Philadelphia-area candidates.
