BlackStar’s Membership Tiers

All member tiers receive an exclusive subscription to our monthly membership newsletter, a discount on merchandise, special invites to members-only BlackStar events, and early access to discounted BlackStar Film Festival passes. By becoming a member, you provide our organization with the necessary funding to sustain our year-round programmatic work, uplift the work of artists of the global majority, and challenge mainstream narratives of erasure. 

Membership can be paid through a one-time gift or recurring monthly gift at any of the following levels: Filmmaker, Film Enthusiast, and Film Scholar. Supporters at $1k or above are eligible to join our Luminary Giving Circle.

Film Archivist – $75

Membership Terms and Conditions

Membership donations are tax-deductible gifts. Memberships expire one year after the initial date of donation. For example, a membership-qualifying one-time gift made on July 9, 2025 would expire on July 8, 2026. 

Member benefits are non-transferable and may be subject to change. Programmatic benefits apply only during the active membership term. Members will be notified in advance of any benefit changes whenever possible. Benefits for monthly membership are active as long as the recurring donation payment is completed each month. If a monthly membership is cancelled before one full year of recurring payments (12 total payments), benefits will expire one month after the final payment date. If a monthly membership is cancelled after one full year of recurring payments, benefits will end one year after the final payment date.
