Claire Tancons

Claire Tancons is a curator and scholar invested in the discourse and practice of the postcolonial politics of art production and exhibition. Tancons has charted a distinct path in performance, inflecting global art historical genealogies with African diasporic aesthetics in international exhibitions and biennials. She was the inaugural Mellon Global Curatorial Professor at the CUNY Graduate Center, teaching about processional performance, also the topic of her Creative Capital / Andy Warhol Foundation award. Born in Guadeloupe, Tancons lives in diaspora and works in situ.
